Editor
Infrastructure & Renewable Energy
Annex Business Media is re-engineering its Renewable Energy and Infrastructure Group, and we’re looking for an experienced and entrepreneurial trade journalist to lead the way. This exciting position combines print and digital products, including sector-leading brands Canadian Biomass, Aggregates & Roadbuilding, and Canadian Forest Industries.
Print, e-news, websites, Twitter, and events – to you these are all just different ways to engage your audience and build your community. You welcome the opportunity to work with the assistant editor to expand our reach in all these areas.
If you have some skill and experience in editing, writing, and photography, enjoy the great outdoors, relish the chance to travel to parts of Canada and the world few get to see, and, preferably, understand machinery and technology, this is the opportunity you’ve been waiting for.
Reporting to the group publisher, the editor will be comfortable working with freelance writers and/or contributors to research and develop news stories and features of vital interest to the industry. You are also thrilled with the opportunity to research and write features of your own.
Building relationships with the forestry and rock-to-road communities that make up your readership and the representatives from major industry associations and suppliers comes naturally. Although you make an excellent team member, some of your best work is done independently.
You will bring:
- Minimum three years’ experience in editing, writing or journalism, preferably in trade publishing.
- Experience assembling magazines from concept to press.
- Top-notch writing, photography, research and verbal communication skills.
- Comfort and/or experience with all forms of digital communication, including websites and social media.
- Great organizational abilities as well as strong computer skills.
- Outgoing personality and comfort in social settings.
- Strong work ethic and ability to adapt in a constantly evolving publishing business.
- Knowledge of heavy equipment and/or technology is an asset.
- Valid driver’s licence and use of late model vehicle required.
We will offer:
- A competitive wage and comprehensive benefits package, including group benefits, pension, training and more.
- An opportunity to work with a professional and dedicated team on a variety of Canada’s leading B2B brands.
- An opportunity to grow in a professional environment.
- The choice to work from either of our modern offices in Aurora or Simcoe, Ont., or, for the right candidate, from a home office in one of Canada’s major urban areas.
